Kaleidoscope Review - Issue 1
The Review section aims to present and analyse a wide range of events and new publications, such as theatrical, dance and musical performances, books, films, and exhibitions. It embraces both popular culture as well as more innovative, controversial or unheard of work. In our first issue, Helena Blackstone looks at “Chimerica”, an ambitious play exploring the ideologies of the two superpowers, China and the United States. David Knowles compares 3 “blockbuster” films of the summer, “World War Z”, “Star Trek: Into Darkness” and finally “The World’s End” in order to establish whether they succeed in meeting expectation. And Dija Mulla assesses Rebecca Coleman’s controversial book “The Kingdom of Children”, provoking debate about teacher-student relationships.
